There is an idea that we see throughout scripture that God is to be FIRST.

1. Firstborn
   
   Exodus 13:2
   Exodus 13:12-13
   
   – So, the principle of the firstborn shows an example of the fact that the first, belongs to God. 
   
2. Firstfruits
   
   Exodus 23:19
   Proverbs 3:9-10
   
3. Tithe
   
   Malachi 3:8-11
   

A couple of other reasons we tithe beyond it’s a matter of obedience:

• Reminds us of His provision (He is God)
• Reminds us that we are stewards, not owners
• Allows us to invest His resources into his work through the Church
• It puts everyone on the same level (10%)
