Review From Last Week:
The Tithe (1st 10% of our resources) is God’s and is to be brought back to God through His Church. The tithe is not Generosity, it’s Obedience for the Christ follower.
God wants us to be like Him. God is generous. God wants us to be generous.
Luke 16:1-13
Key: When it comes to resources, what I have is not really mine, it’s God’s. I am just a manager!
How to Have Joy in Generosity…
• I’m faithful with a little or a lot.
“Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, and whoever is unrighteous in very little is also unrighteous in much.” – Luke 16:10
Why People Are Not Generous…
• I don’t have enough: SCARCITY MINDSET
Mark 12:41-44
• I have too much: GREED
Matt 19:16-24
-Don’t expect God to bless you with a lot when you can’t be trusted with a little
I’m devoted to God… Not Money
“No household slave can be the slave (devoted) of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t be slaves to both God and money.” – Luke 16:13
Devoted to God: God wants to be first in everything!
Devoted to Our Money: If I’m devoted in every other area of my life to God but not in my finances – I’m still not devoted to God!
I’m going to be wise in where I invest God’s resources.
-Invest God’s resources in people and ministries that make an eternal impact. KEY WORD… Generosity
Biblically Generous People Have An Eternal Perspective
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Matthew 6:19-21, 24
