What do you think are the differences between people who are fulfilled in life and those who are not?
The Quality of your Decisions Determines the Quality of Your Life.
The Problem:
We are not good decision-makers!
Why Do We Struggle To Make Good Decisions?
– We’re overwhelmed with choices
“As the volume of decisions increase – the quality of decisions decreases.”
– We’re afraid to make the wrong choice
Since we aren’t sure we don’t make any decision!
INDECISION IS A DECISION… Indecision is the enemy of progress!
– We let our emotions overrule logic.
– We overanalyze things that don’t matter, but we react in the moment with things that do!
So often it is the emotional decisions that hurt us most!
Key: Don’t make permanent decisions based on temporary emotions
– The quality of our decisions determines the quality of our lives
One of the best ways to live a forward-looking, people-loving, God-glorifying life, we need to decide before what we will do later.
As Christ Followers – Ask God to Help Us Pre-Decide!
Read Proverbs 16:3
Read Ephesians 5:15-17
Read James 1:5
“When faced with ____________ (situation or decision), I have pre-decided to _________________ (take this action)”
Pre-decide examples in the Bible:
Genesis 22: God told Abraham to offer Isaac as sacrifice – Pre-decided to trust God…
Ruth 1: Ruth Pre-decided – Where you go I go, your people my people…
Daniel 1:8: “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with royal food and wine…” Daniel knew what he valued and PRE-DECIDED…
What do you value? Integrity? Faithfulness? Purity? Generosity?
When your values are clear, your decisions are easier.
Read Matthew 7:24
We don’t stop to think that our decisions are rarely isolated.
Decisions determine direction – direction determines our destiny.
Is your life moving in the direction of your decisions? Do you like the direction your decisions are taking you? If not, it’s time to surrender your decisions to God!
Pre-decide to do something different!
Pre-determine: Decisions not based on emotions in the moment, but on values God has placed on my heart.
Read Romans 12:2
– When my values (who God has called me to be) are clear, decisions are much easier
Good news: We are not saved by the quality of our decisions. We are saved by the grace of God!
Jesus pre-decided – not my will but Yours!
Commit everything to the Lord – He establishes our plans!
