Baby Dedication is a special prayer service for families with babies and younger preschoolers to celebrate God’s plan and ask for His support of our children.
We know that God made you, as parents, the primary spiritual influence in your child’s life. Dedication is a time for parents to commit to raise their kids to know and follow Jesus. Dedication doesn’t save your kids.
Dedication is where we pray for the day your child chooses to make Jesus their Savior and where we celebrate the plan that God has for each child. It’s really about parents making a commitment before the Lord and asking for the encouragement and support of the church.
Parents are encouraged to invite family, friends, lifegroup members to join you in this opportunity. Think of it this way – who will you reach out to if your child is sick or your teenager is pushing your buttons – those are the folks you invite to circle around you and pray with you as part of dedication.
Parents also have the opportunity to choose a life verse or special verse for your child. This is a verse you want to pray over your child or ask God to bring to fruition in their life. Dedication is a celebration of the baby that has been entrusted to you and a time of commitment as parents. It is focused prayer, encouragement for parents, and a chance to know more about how we, your church family, want to partner with you as you raise your kids to know Jesus!
